The company traces its origins to Salzburger Aluminium AG, one of the first aluminium producers worldwide, founded in 1898. After a management buy-out in 1992, the SAG Group has focused on the production of aluminium components and has been supplying international customers from the automotive, commercial vehicle and railroad industries with innovative products, thus bringing more lightness to vehicle construction. As a successful manufacturer of fuel tanks, cryogenic tank systems and high-quality lightweight components, SAG makes a significant contribution to greater sustainability in mobility.

SAG’s revenue totaled approximately EUR 160 million in 2025 with around 950 employees across nine locations in Austria, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Mexico, and the United States. 

As a leading manufacturer of aluminum truck tanks, SAG is a global supplier to numerous well-known OEMs. The product portfolio also includes lightweight chassis components, air reservoirs, compressed air tanks, and specialized components for the passenger car, commercial vehicle, rail, and special vehicle industries. SAG is a technology leader in cryogenic tank systems for LNG and LH₂ and the first company to bring Rheocasting to series production readiness.

Main customers are OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) such as VOLVO, SCANIA, IVECO, MAN, DAF, Daimler Trucks, BMW, etc. as well as companies from rail vehicle, defense and special vehicle industries.
