Cluster E-Mobility Upper Austria

On 13 June an A3PS-excursion to Upper Austria took place under lively participation of our members, organized by A3PS and Automobil-Cluster Upper Austria.

First Markus Schachner led by the plant 2 of the company Rosenbauer in Leonding. Rosenbauer has been an A3PS member since 2018 and is the world leader in fire-fighting technology. 80% of Rosenbauer's sales are generated by fire-fighting vehicles: on the one hand municipal vehicles with Rosenbauer technology on the chassis of well-known OEMs, on the other hand vehicles developed completely by Rosenbauer, such as the airport rescue and fire-fighting vehicle Panther or the CFT (Concept Fire Truck). The CFT is ergonomically optimized as an electrically driven concept vehicle with a new vehicle architecture and is low in emissions and quiet.

In the afternoon Roland Hintringer invited to a factory tour at Miba, where high-tech sintered components, engine and industrial bearings, (friction) coatings and power electronics are produced for use in vehicles and special machineries.

Following the factory tour, Hubert Mitterhofer and Johann Hoffelner presented the LCM Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH, a new A3PS member. As a one-stop-shop, LCM accompanies the development of the entire innovation chain, from scientific research to the finished product. Among other things, electric drives are developed, designed and manufactured.

2016

BMW Project i

On September 6th, 2016 a group of A3PS members visited the BMW Project i in Landshut, Germany. We took the "Exclusive Guided Tour BMW i - Future Mobility". This BMW i tour introduces the visitors to BMW Group Plant Landshut’s contributions to the BMW i models. Among these are: the CFPR body, the cockpit, and the electric engines as well as special internal combustion engines. The focus lies on electromobility and light metal casting. The tour took 2 hours. At BMW Group Plant Landshut, about 4,100 associates produce engine and chassis components from light metal casting, plastic components for vehicle exteriors, carbon body components, cockpit and equipment scopes, electric drives, spare and special engines, as well as drive trains. They are delivered to vehicle and assembly plants of the BMW Group all over the world. The BMW Group Plant Landshut is a center for innovation and production for the future technologies of lightweight construction and electromobility and is therefore involved in the development of new vehicles at a very early stage. Keyfacts:

  • Workforce: 4,100
  • Apprentices approx. 120
  • Production areas: casting components, plastic components for interior/exterior, CFRP components, electrified powertrains, propeller shafts, special engines
